I have not been ill – not physically at least. There are some books that sit in the center of culture. Amazon, Barnes & Noble and Apple are running $4 sale on David Foster Wallace's masterpiece, Infinite Jest. Is it easier to flip to the footnotes in the actual print book? I am about to jump into IJ for the first time. The comment had to do with the footnotes. The last few weeks of my life have been consumed by completing and digesting one book – David Foster Wallace's Infinite Jest. This post is entirely about the ending of Infinite Jest, what happens to the main characters, what I think happens in the blanks DFW leaves for the reader, etc. But Infinite Jest is not simply long. When reviewing a novel of over a thousand pages, with literally hundreds of footnotes, it's difficult to not start with a discussion of size. It's been almost a month since my last post.
