Perhaps the most mystical, magical people ever known were the Druids. Druid Magic: The Practice of Celtic Wisdom. Is the first of seven volumes in a sweeping mythological narrative tracing the mystical connections between Hermes Trismegistus in ancient Egypt, Sophia, the female counterpart of Christ, and the Celtic druids of Clan Kelly. Beyond that, however, there is also evidence from both Greek and Roman sources as well as mythology to support the existence of female Druids among the ancient Celts. History of the Celtic Druids By Thomas O Donovan and Frank Soul The Druids were an ancient order of Celtic priests in the societies of Western Europe,Britain. They were wizards, storytellers, teachers and spiritual leaders. The best that can be said is that the Druids were members of a high strain of the Celts, who occupied the place of judges, doctors, priests, diviners, magicians, doctors, astronomers, etc.. They were attuned to the Earth and the Sun. Before the approach of recorded history, in circa 500 BCE, Northern European Celts, crossed the Alps and invaded Rome. Many Druids and Celtic Reconstructionists, especially those who are called by Manannan and the symbolism of the crane, make crane bags to wear on their person. Which is why turn of the first millennium Roman accounts of Druids — the high priest sect of the ancient Celts — practicing cannibalism to please their gods has long been taken as unfounded. This was supposed to be quick as I'm trying to do a worrying amount of revision in about three days… but then I stumbled across the fact that the Roman's word for the Celts was Keltoi and this post was born. Oak has been considered sacred by just about every culture that has encountered the tree, but it was held in particular reverence by the Celts and the Norse because of its size, long life, and acorns.
